Summer Days

On Father's Day this year went taught Aiden how to ride his bike without training wheels.  The boys have bikes but they haven't really rode them much.  Now that all of them are older we thought it was a good time to teach Aiden.  It really didn't take that long for him to get it.  While we were on vacation he practiced and practiced.  So when we got home he had gotten so good now he rides around the block.  It's so cute.  I love it.  So I went and got a bike and a little trailer so the boys and I  can all ride around the block together.  Getting a bike was on my 30 before 30 list.   I love my bike.  It's a sunshiny yellow Schwinn Cruiser.  I think we are going to have lots of fun this summer and plenty of exercise!!

I have also read two more books.  They were so good.

This book was just a easy sweet read.  I would say it is perfect for a beach read.  It's basically about letters that a grandma has written her granddaughter about her life.  The main theme throughout the book is not giving up on love.  You may need a tissue!

I read another novel by Gillian Flynn.  Her books are so good and I cannot put them down.  They are so dark yet the characters are so likable.  I thought I had it figured out and then wham!  I was so wrong.

I am now at 25 books read this year!  I am half way to my goal of reading 50 books before I turn 30!  I have so many books that I want to read.  I am sure that I will meet my goal with no problem.  If anyone has any good book recommendations please leave a comment!

Back to the Real World

Tim and I just got back from our vacation to Cancun.  We also celebrated our seventh anniversary while on vacation.  It was wonderful to get a break from the real world.  Our boys stayed here with my mom and grandma.  They had a blast.  Yesterday when we dropped them off at the airport to go home the only person not crying was my husband.  I feel awful that we don't live close to any family.  I love when my boys get to spend time with my mom and grandma and I know that a fun time was had by all.

When we were in Cancun, we went swimming with the dolphins.  This is probably the top thing I have always wanted to do.  When I was younger I wanted to be a dolphin trainer and they are my favorite animal.  I loved it.  Tim said I didn't look like I was really interested in in while we were doing and that's because I was trying to control my emotions.  I didn't want to cry in front of everyone!!  My emotions were a little overwhelming, but I managed to hold in the tears!

I loved Cancun.  It was beautiful.  It was however very American and very expensive.  It was hard to find Mexican food and I love to travel and experience other cultures especially their FOOD!  We did have some amazing food while we were there!
Fish Pescadillas From Calypso's
Conch Ceviche From Calypso's

Eating Breakfast on our balcony.
I was so excited to get home because I missed my boys so much.  I do think that Tim and I need to try and getaway (even if it's just a weekend) more often.  I feel refreshed and I'm ready to tackle the real world head on!!

Sneaking into Bed

So when I was pregnant with Aiden, Tim and I were adamant about not having the kids sleep with us.  We wanted to have our room be just ours.  I mean of course they slept in our room until they were like six months old, but when they were old enough to have a bed if they came in our room we were going to put them straight back in their bed!  I'm a total sucker.  I love when the boys crawl into bed with us.  Granted I don't always appreciate it the next morning when I'm tired and my back is sore, but I want them to cuddle up to me and rub my face and have their little heads on my shoulder.  And one day they aren't going to come crawling into bed with me anymore and I want to have them stay little for as long as possible.  Aiden hardly ever comes into our room at night anymore as it is and Brody is growing out of it as well.  But Corbs crawls in with his favorite blanket all the time.

I have a love hate relationship with my kids getting bigger (I cried when I dropped Aiden off for his last day of Kindergarten).  I love that we are able to go out and do more things, but I hate that soon they aren't going to be little.  I hate that I can't shield them from the bad things out in the world just a little longer.   I am not numero uno when it comes to influences any more and they are starting to form their own ideas and own opinions.   I mean all of my boys are going to be in some form of school next year!  They just grow too quickly.  I would like to suspend time for just a little bit so I can absorb this phase just a little longer.  I can only just hope that Tim and I have done a good job and they will learn and grow from all of their experiences good or bad.

Getting so close

I'm getting so excited.  Next Thursday Tim and I will be headed to Cancun to celebrate our 7th anniversary!  My mom and Grandma get in Tuesday night.  They are watching the boys.  This is only the third time we have been on vacation without the kids in the seven years we've been married!  While there I plan on tackling a few of my 30 before 30 list!  Can't wait.

Yesterday the boys and I went grocery shopping.  Since it's the first week they've been out of school they are still adjusting.  I bribed them with Sweet Frog.  So last night since they were good at the store we all went out to get some Fro Yo. (Tim makes funny of me when I say Fro Yo).  I bought a new bikini the other day and I received it yesterday! (Click here to see)

I've been reading lately.  I've read two books this week:

I really enjoyed both books.  Wild visits a time in her life where everything changed and she had to come to terms with her new reality and she chose to do that while tackling the Pacific Coast Trail by herself.  While I couldn't really relate to what the author had been through, I loved her story.

Sharp Objects is a thriller type novel.  It's twisted and a little disturbing and I could not put it down!  It follows the main character Camille back to her home town.  She is doing a piece for the paper she works for on the disappearance of a little girl that her editor thinks is related to the murder of another little girl that happened about a year ago.

I love reading.  So far this year I have read 23 books.  I read mostly at night and it's not unheard of for me to read into the early morning hours because I cannot put a book down!

It's time for my workout so off I go!

Welcome

I wanted to start a blog mainly for myself to keep a record of the small everyday stories that fill up life. Everyone remembers the big moments in life and I want to remember the everyday moments too.  I want to remember the days that I'm tired from the kids crawling in bed with us or the funny and sweet things they do.  I also want to connect with a part of myself that is lost.  I use to write all the time and over time I've lost that.  So this is a way for me to reconnect with myself as a writer.

Earlier this year I decided to make a Thirty Things to do Before Thirty List.  I'll be chronicling that on here too!  Technically it is list of 29 to dos, since I still need to come up with one more...I'm open to suggestions!

So I guess we will see where this blogging journey leads me!
